A New Dawn in Technology
In 2018 Tom Scurlock found out his mother had cancer. To make sure he could take her to her doctor’s appointments, he took a job as a substitute teacher. This way, he could work and take his mom to doctor’s appointments. He taught at an International Baccalaureate school in Prince George’s County, Maryland. What he found was shocking. The school had 1 Chromebook for every 3 students. The teachers had to rotate access to computers.
When he did more research, he found that 25% of all school-aged children live in a household without access to a computer or the Internet. This is 2023, and the issue still persists.
Djelfa is dedicated to solving this problem. We are committed to donating 10% of our profits to secure a mini-computer or Chromebook to give to a child in need.
